Ever wondered just how influential a drag queen is? Wonder no more. Here at Justmylook, we have been on a quest to discover exactly which of our favourite queens are the most influential. To do this, we looked into each queen’s Instagram earning potential, most ‘pinned’ drag queen, and the biggest makeup inspiration.
The Drag Hall Of Fame
Influencers are called influencers because that’s exactly what they do; they have followers who support them and take inspiration from their life. Drag queens are a huge part of our culture and everything they stand for allows our society to express themselves in a way that never used to be accepted.
Our research revealed that Violet Chachki is the world’s most influential drag queen, with Adore Delano coming in second place, followed by Gigi Goode in third.
Violet Chachki was the winner of the seventh season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race and currently has two million followers on Instagram. Violet is the stage name of Jason Dardo who is a drag queen, performer, model, and content creator. With a huge social media following and a Drag Race win, it’s easy to see why Violet has been ranked as the world’s most influential drag queen.
A singer-songwriter and TV personality, Adore Delano ranked second in the world as the most influential queen. With over 2.1 million Instagram followers, again it’s certain Adore deserves the influencer status. The queen posts stunning pictures of their makeup looks and has released an EP for fans to stream worldwide, affirming their place as an influencer.
Gigi Goode was runner-up in the twelfth season of Drag Race and has landed as a firm favourite among the community. Gigi is a Los Angeles-based drag queen, model, makeup artist and performer with a dedicated fan base of 1.3 million followers on Instagram.
With all of these followers on Instagram, we decided to investigate each queen’s Instagram earning potential. Let’s see what the data has revealed…
The Biggest Instagram Earner
There are some seriously high earnings going on in this list with average earnings per post reaching almost £15,000. That’s more than some people earn in a year! Violet Chachki ranks at number one again, earning on average £14,559.67 per Instagram post. Four posts a month on those earnings and that’s nearly £60,000 for one month’s worth of work.
At number 10 in this ranking is Courtney Act, with a potential average earning of £2900.99 per Instagram post, which is still a huge amount of money for one post!
The potential earnings of these queens are huge, and the sky’s the limit for those wanting to pursue a career in social media and content creation. Their skills and personalities make for such a dedicated fan base, so we can completely get on board with this. Make that money queens!
Drag queens are renowned for their amazing makeup artistry skills, so we wanted to investigate who is the biggest makeup inspiration around the world.
Biggest makeup inspiration
This time around, we discovered that Kim Chi came out on top and pretty far ahead of the others, with 5,400 global monthly searches by fans looking to be inspired by her looks. There’s no surprise when this queen’s makeup looks are absolutely iconic, so fans are rushing to create the look for themselves. We are in awe of all of the talent in the drag community – we’d love to be able to create the art that all of these queens do!
Both Violet Chachki and Gigi Goode rank in the top three with 1,300 monthly searches for their looks, and Crystal Methyd comes in fourth position with 720.
Out of all the queens, who’s your biggest makeup inspiration?
Somewhere we always go-to for any aesthetic inspiration is Pinterest. There really is no better app for looking for all things aesthetically pleasing! Violet Chachki has taken the top spot yet again with up to 22,091 pins! Compared to second place Sederginne with 5,995, this is a massive margin Violet has between the two. Ranking third is Alaska Thunderfuck with 4,750 pins, with all of these fans looking to her for inspiration and we don’t blame them.
All of these queens are equally inspirational and just as stunning as each other, they all deserve a place in the Drag Hall of Fame and we are so pleased to welcome them!

Methodology:
To determine the most influential Drag queen we have pulled data from different drag queens from the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Chile, Holland, Spain to find out who ranks the best from metrics including Instagram followers, Instagram engagements, the average amount they can earn per Instagram post, youtube followers and cameo prices. Each metric was ranked individually to create an overall ranking score combined.
Based on social engagement, the number of followers and number of posts and using Influencer Marketing Hub we were able to predict the earning potential of each Drag queen on Instagram.
Using Pinterest, we searched each drag queen to see who has had the highest number of saves/pins on a post.
Using keywordtool.io we pulled monthly search volumes in every country for each queen’s makeup style to determine who is the biggest makeup inspiration.
