With summer on the horizon and lockdown easing, it’s time to change up your skincare routine so you can ‘get the glow’ in time for a packed summer schedule of socialising. You might be wondering why it’s important to switch up your routine with the seasons, and it’s simple really – your skin has different needs. In winter, your skin will likely be drier than usual, whereas in the warmer months your skin is more likely to be oilier.
Here at Justmylook we’ve scoured our skincare shelves to bring you our top products to add into your routine in prep for the summer months…
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is great for your skin all year round, but especially so during the summer months. The Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Sleep & Reveal Night Cream offers an overnight recovery for your skin by combining Vitamin C with Tomato and Liquorice extracts, which are known to boost moisture and aid rejuvenation. Use every night and your skin will be looking fresher and brighter in no time.
Serum
If you prefer your Vitamin C by way of a serum, then the Skin Booster Vitamin Shot by Physicians Formula provides a daily dose of skin-boosting vitamins to the skin. The serum works to reduce the appearance of dark spots caused by sun damage, so it’s perfect if you’ve overindulged in the sunshine.
Facial SPF
A good SPF is essential all year round, but even more so in the summer months. Facial SPFs can be tricky business though, as they can leave a white cast or sometimes cause makeup to pill. We’ve tried a lot of SPFs over the years, some great and some not so great. None however have come close to the CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF25 in terms of quality and price – no white cast is left behind and makeup sits beautifully over it.
Facial Mist
A facial mist is a summer skincare staple. The longer, and warmer, days mean you are likely to spend longer outdoors, so your skin could do with a little moisture boost. The essence Hello Good Stuff 3 in 1 Face Mist contains Watermelon extract which hydrates skin whilst also producing a matte finish – perfect for the days spent picnicking in the park.
Alongside adding these products into your routine it is always a good idea to make sure the staple products you’re using are season fit too. Make sure to use a lighter moisturiser and cleanser too as your skin won’t require the thicker and heavier creams that it did in winter.
