For many women, including me, a good hair day involves shiny, sleek and soft hair that looks luscious and freshly blow-dried. But for majority of us who are not genetically blessed with such hair, hair straightening tools have become a part of our beauty routine.
The new L’Oréal Steampod is perfect for people who have damaged hair, want to spoil their hair at the same time as styling. The steampod uses a combination of steam and pro-keratin technology to help control hair movement and leave it silky smooth, whilst protecting from heat damage. I believe it’s the best straightener for helping people who have very thick, unruly, curly, frizzy hair.
Firstly, fill up the water tank and once it’s heated up to the temperature you have selected (I have coloured hair so I had the temperature set to 180) you will hear the familiar sound of short steam bursts, very similar to conventional steam iron that we use for our clothes.
Hold the straightener following the directions of the arrows on the outside (with the comb at the bottom), this way the steam comes in contact with the hair before the plates, then carry on as you would with a regular straightener. The steam is a lot kinder and less damaging to your hair.
Admittedly, I didn’t get on with the comb because I have a lot of thick wavy hair, I was finding it a nuisance, and I found my hair getting caught and tangled. Especially whilst I was working with a larger sections of my hair the comb would struggle to get through my hair. I definitely would recommend making sure your hair is totally tangle free!
Once the comb was removed the Steampod glided effortlessly through my hair, leaving glossy straight hair behind, this amazed me as using my ghds I often find myself having to run the straighteners through 3 or 4 times. The combination of steam and pro-keratin technology in the Steampod tames hair movement and leaves hair silky smooth, whilst protecting from heat damage!
Overall, I can honestly say I love the way the Steampod makes my hair feel even through to the next day. The results have been immaculate and I’ve received compliments on my hair and it even stayed looking straight from roots to ends until the next wash (which is rare!) whereas using my ghds my hair returns to its wavy state the next day. My hair definitely looks more healthy and smooth using the Steampod rather than my ghds.
Despite the Steampod being a little heavier and perhaps a little more difficult to get used to, its foolproof when creating straight hairstyles even working on more unruly challenging hair and can be used to nurse damaged hair back to health. It’s perfect for people who have lots of hair, and not a lot of time to straighten it.
The highly recommended L’Oreal Steampod is available on our website for a great price.
