So you’ve just given birth to a beautiful bouncing baby – firstly, congratulations! Secondly, we hope you’re getting enough sleep. Thirdly, if you’re not getting enough sleep (which is highly likely), chances are your beauty routine has taken a tumble in the past few months. While we personally think new mummies look the most beautiful of all, as babies grow older you might find you want to start getting back into a regular beauty routine. But with a drastically altered daily schedule and a new baby to care for, it can be hard to find the time to dedicate to beauty in the way you would have done pre-baby.
Luckily we’re here to save the day with some handy time-saving tips to keep new mummies looking yummy.
- Focus on skincare rather than expensive cosmetics. If you keep your skin looking tiptop you won’t have to bother with a long and complex makeup routine in the morning. Treat yourself to a good cleanser, exfoliator, toner and moisturiser to keep skin clear, bright and refreshed.
- Invest in a good eye cream. Puffy eyes can be the one most annoying indicators of a sleepless night but a good eye cream will rehydrate and soothe tired eyes to help you look more awake.
- Get a tan! A tan can make you look instantly healthier plus eliminates the need for piling on bronzers in the morning. Chances are there won’t be much time for sunbathing so it might be time to purchase a good fake tan.
- Learn to embrace dry shampoo! Experts suggest that washing your hair too much isn’t good for it anyway, as it strips the natural oils from your hair and leaves it dry and frizzy. Spritzing on a little dry shampoo is much easier and quicker in the morning and you can reassure yourself that not showering is good for you anyway.
- Grab yourself a few key cosmetic items that you can use to do your whole face in 10 minutes. We recommend a highlighting concealer like W7 Cosmetics Highlighting Concealer that can be used to cover blemishes, conceal dark circles and give you a healthy glow at the same time. Other multitasking products are also super useful, like a lip and cheek stain that you can dab on for a quick touch of colour before heading out.
Becoming a mother is the most beautiful experience in the world – but it can often leave you feeling less than pretty. Make sure you allocate some time to focus on you and pamper yourself. Even if it’s once a month and you can have an afternoon off from mummy duties – it’s good for the soul!
