From J-Law to Emma Stone, Miranda Kerr to Rosie Huntington-Whitely, our favourite cool-girls have got one thing in common this season and that’s a tousled lob. No it’s not a complicated medical condition, it’s a long bob styled with carefree waves and it’s this season’s hottest look. Here’s how to achieve yours:
A Cut Above
First things first, you’re going to need to make the cut. Your hairdresser should know what a lob is (duh, dahling) but if not, just ask for a shoulder-skimming bob. It should be long enough that you can curl it without it springing up all around your face. For bonus points, throw in a few gentle layers to create movement and texture.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat
Every great style begins with a great wash: fact. For this look, you’ll want volume so go for a volumising shampoo/conditioner like the TIGI Bed Head Styelshots Tween.
Home and Dry
You’re not going to want to do much to your hair as it dries so put the comb or brush down and just go over it with a hairdryer. Alternatively, for the most natural results, spritz in some mattifying salt spray and let your hair air dry.
Crimp your Style
If your hair doesn’t have natural waves or it needs a helping hand on top of the salt spray, it’s time to get out the curling tongs. You’ll want a narrow barrelled curler; we’re creating loose waves, not big curls after all. Our favourite is the Babyliss Pro Twin Barrel Styler because it’s been made especially for the job!
Photo Finish
To finish up, you’ll need a spritz of hairspray to keep those tousled waves in place. Rather than a rock-solid crispy finish however, you want hold with natural movement so go for something like TIGI Bed Head Flexi-Head Hairspray. It will keep your hair in place while helping you look like you just woke up like dis. Lob-ley jubbly.
