Are you a Hitchcock blonde stifled by your natural brown hair? Or a fiery redhead just waiting to break out of strawberry blonde locks? Not all of us were born with the hair colour we were meant to rock; if you’ve been fancying a change, here are the colours brightening up our world in 2016.
Bronde
Ever since Blake Lively Instagrammed a picture of her perfect ‘Bronde’ locks, we’ve been wondering who the hell came up with the name ‘Bronde’. Still, silly name aside, we can’t get enough of this warm, slightly beachy colour. Lying (as you might have guessed) somewhere between brunette and blonde, it’s the perfect winter-to-summer transitional shade.
Get the look: At the end of the day, this is basically a light brunette base with multi-tonal blonde highlights. Revlon Nutri Color Creme in Havana, Light Beige, and Pale Gold are perfect for the job.
Copper
Redheads are going intense this year. Faded strawberry shades are out and deep, shiny, metallic shades are oh-so in. For the most on-trend red around, go for a rich copper tone. It’s glam, healthy-looking and beautifully eye-catching.
Get the look: Revlon Nutri Colour Creme to the rescue again! Grab colour 740 Copper and pop it into washed hair, rinsing after three minutes. It’s as easy as that!
Secret Brights
One for Pinterest fans here. There’s nothing more fun than having a secret so, if you work somewhere where hair dye isn’t encouraged or you just aren’t yet ready to embrace full-on colour, it’s time to join the Secret Bright club. And how does one join? Simply by dyeing the underside of your hair the brightest colour (or colours!) imaginable. Wear your hair down and you’ll only be able to see the most intriguing flash of colour here and there. Or wear it up and show off your secret to the world!
Get the look: This look works best with neon brights and bolds to make the effect all the more striking when hair is worn up. Crazy Colour has a whole bunch of beautiful shades to choose from but we particularly love their sugar-sweet colours like Bubblegum and Candy Floss.
Not-so-Secret Brights
Of course, if you’ve never been one to hide your highlights under a bushel, there’s no need to keep your colour a secret at all. From rainbow ombres to all-over pastel pinks, colour is still going to be super popular in 2016 and is perfect for fashionistas who love to be bold.
Get the look: The most on-trend colour looks are multitonal this year with techniques like colour-melt, ecaille and balayage all coming into play to create shimmering and iridescent waterfalls of hair a unicorn would be proud of. Your best bet is to grab a Crazy Color Starter Palette and get experimenting.
