Do you need to up your beauty game this party season? Are you looking for a new signature style?
From “strobing” to “accent nails”, we reveal our favourite looks – read through and let us know which you’re going to try!
Opt for a smoky eye … with a metallic twist!
This winter, it’s all about recreating the classic smoky eye with metallic shades. Ditch the gunmetal grey powder and black kohl pencil. Opt for rich, warm bronze and copper shades.
Top tip: Use a shimmering champagne colour on the inner corner of your eyelids and blend outwards. This will “open” your eyes, giving you a fresh, bright look.
Metallic smoky eyes work well with dramatic lashes and a simple nude lip.
Try vamping it up with dark matte lips
Pinterest is a litmus test of what’s trending – load up the site and you’ll see that dark matte lips are popular.
Recreate this trend at home by opting for a vampy shade that’s packed full of pigmentation for a striking look
Go with glam hot pink lips
Opt for a hot pink glossy lipstick to brighten up your look this winter. Choose an almost-fluorescent shade to really pack some punch.
Hot pink lips work really well with monochrome shades (e.g. if you’re planning to wear a little black dress or a white lacy number). Keep the rest of your makeup simple and chic.
Highlighting and contouring
Take a leaf out of Kim Kardashian’s book and learn how to highlight and contour in time for the party season. This simple trick is guaranteed to give your whole look a picture perfect finish.
Start strobing
Strobing is a relatively new trend on the makeup scene. It was recently spotted on the Fashion Week runways, and now it’s gradually taking over the blogosphere. Get ahead of the curve by trying the look this festive season.
Strobing requires an illuminating cream highlighter. After applying your foundation, apply the highlighter on cheekbones, the brow bone, on the tip of your nose and in the corners of your eyes. Blend it well with a sponge, softening all edges. The end result should be a soft, radiant glow.
Nails on fleek!
To make sure your manicure is party-season perfect, combine two of this year’s biggest trends: matte and accent nails.
Paint three or four of the fingers on each hand with a deep, dark coloured matte polish – we recommend navy blue or aubergine purple.
Next, create your “accent nail/s” with a glittering silver or gold polish. Just remember to seal with a high quality topcoat for a lasting finish.
‘Tis the season to try…glitter liner
This is a really chic, sophisticated way to wear glitter on a night out without looking like you’ve come straight from of an eight-year-old’s birthday party.
Using a black liquid liner, draw a winged “cat eye”. Now draw another line above using a glitter liner in a colour of your choice. If you’re feeling brave, add a daub of glitter to the bottom lash line too.
