Updos, glam waves, poker straight strands, and wet-look locks; we can’t get enough of the multitude of hairstyles on offer at London Fashion Week 2015 and we can’t wait to help you recreate them. Here are some of our favourite trends.
A Parting of The Ways
It’s time to pick your tribe, people. Are you Team Centre Parting or Team Side Parting? SS16 at LFW made it abundantly clear that there were only two choices: the centre parting that was so straight it could have been crafted with a ruler or the side parting so extreme that it begins on the head of the girl next to you. There were key looks for both styles too. If you love your centre partings you can choose from flowing, glamorous seventies-style waves or poker straight, grungy wet-look hair. To achieve the former, get big bouncy waves with a barrel curler like the Babyliss Pro Triple Barrel Waver and a generous helping of volumising mousse. For wet-look hair, create a straight centre parting with a tail comb and then slick a nourishing keratin gel through your locks until they look, well, wet. Sound a bit too extreme? A more wearable version of the trend is to forget the wet-look bit and just opt for a poker-straight mane. Straighteners at the ready!
If you’re more of a fan of the side parting, you need to know that SS15 is taking things to the max so side partings will start from as far to the left or right as you dare. Once you’ve achieved the ultimate side parting you can choose a voluminous eighties-inspired swept-over do or bring your hair down over your face for an extreme side fringe reminiscent of a young windswept sixties ingenue. Either way you’re going to need the perfect backcombing tool and a lot of hairspray.
Flyaway Home
Of course, not everyone can let their hair down all the time. There were plenty of updos on the SS16 catwalks too and all of them had three buzzwords in common: pretty, flyaway, volume. Reminiscent of a tableau from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, these windswept romantic chignons were all about framing the face with an angelic halo of hair. To recreate the look, start with a volumising shampoo and conditioner duo like TIGI’s Bed Head Epic Volume Shampoo and Conditioner then spritz on a volumising mousse before blow drying hair upside down. Backcomb hair then style it in your chosen updo. Complete by dousing with hairspray then teasing out and tousling tendrils around your face and crown for a perfectly ethereal finish.
