Whether it’s been a gruelling week at work or it’s just the morning after a big night out, nothing gives away tiredness like bags under your eyes. If you find yourself constantly battling dark circles, take a look at these handy tips for getting rid of eye bags; the only bags we don’t want in our wardrobe.
Cue-cumber
Stock photos don’t always show spa-goers decked out in cucumber eye patches for nothing. Cucumber is a great natural solution for dark circles and eye bags due to its naturally soothing and skin-lightening properties. For the best results, pop your cucumber slices in the fridge for half an hour before applying them to your eyes. It’s also a good idea to look out for products that contain cucumber extracts, like this Kaeso Rebalancing Cleanser that will tone up eye bags while you cleanse.
Teabags vs Eye Bags
Like cucumber, tea contains naturally soothing and de-puffing properties due to the tannin found in tea leaves. Boil a couple of teabags in hot water then let them cool down and pop them into the fridge. When cold, apply one to each eye and watch the puffiness disappear.
Hold Water
If you’re seeing eye bags despite getting plenty of sleep, the problem could be down to dehydration. Try cutting salt out of your diet and drinking plenty of water to stave off puffy skin. If you need a further helping hand, make sure to invest in a good eye cream to ensure you keep this delicate area moisturised.
Wake and Fake
Of course if you’ve woken up late after a big night out and need to be out of the door looking fresh within the hour, you’ve got no choice but to fake it baby! Whip out your favourite concealer and get hiding. Remember though, opt for a moisturising concealer to avoid drying out the under-eye area as this can lead to caking. It’s also a good idea to find a concealer that’s a shade lighter than your skin so that your complexion looks highlighted and radiant rather than dull. Apply your concealer in a triangle shape (from the corner of your eyes outwards) rather than just on dark circles themselves, as this can make your eyes look smaller. Finish off with a dot of highlighter in the corner of your eye and you’ll look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in no time.
