In this blog post, we will compare the most popular detangling hairbrushes on the market, Tangle Teezer to the Wet Brush to decide which is the best! As both products have similar price points, we will not be including any reference to price in the below.
Tangle Teezer
The Tangle Teezer is an innovative hair brush designed to easily get rid of knots and tangles without the pain of a regular hair brush. There are a variety of styles and colours to choose from within the range, meaning that there’s the perfect brush for you. It’s convenient and small enough to fit into most handbags/clutches making it the ideal travelling partner (also available in a compact size which is perfect for nights out!) The Tangle Teezer is easy to use and works brilliantly on both wet and dry hair, leaving it feeling silky smooth and like you’ve just left the salon. Although, unfortunately, the Tangle Teezer has no handle for ease of brushing, making it harder to use with long hair. However, to make up for this, the shape and design of the brush means that it will fit ergonomically in your hands for an effortless brushing technique.
Pros:
- Can be used on extensions & wigs
- Small in size so perfect for travel
- Excellent on both wet & dry hair
- Easy to hold ergonomic design
Cons:
- No handle
- Shorter bristles than the Wet Brush counterpart
- No cushion
Wet Brush
The Wet Brush is the number one best-selling hairbrush in the United States. Whilst seeming like an ordinary brush at first, it is actually a professional hair brush designed to detangle all hair types, wigs and even extensions. Like the Tangle Teezer, the Wet Brush is available in a selection of colours and styles meaning there’s the ideal design for everybody. The brush is of average size yet slim, meaning it can be kept in your handbag for any hair emergencies that might crop up! With long, soft and flexible bristles and a floating cushion brush, the Wet Brush truly gives a comfortable brushing experience that ensures knots and tangles are vanquished both quickly and effortlessly. Unfortunately, if overused on thinner hair when dry, the brush can create an unwanted static effect.
Pros:
- Soft floating cushion
- Longer bristles ideal for longer and thick hair
- Handle! Great to hold & non-slip
- Can be used on extensions & wigs
Cons:
- Can cause unwanted static
- Not as good on wet hair
- More hair loss was experienced than the TT counterpart
Verdict:
Both brushes have great qualities and are excellent detangling brushes. However, overall at Justmylook we prefer the Tangle Teezer as it never causes static, which the Wet Brush can and also we believe the Wet Brush doesn’t work as well with wet hair. Saying this though, we do feel that the Wet Brush is more suitable for thicker and longer hair, as the handle makes it easier to use and the Intelliflex bristles are longer ensuring deeper penetration into the hair.
Great 🙂 I now know which is beast for my hair, thank you!
No problem!
